There is no keen strategy to defeating this creature except for the same way you've been doing for awhile; variable arts and the Power Necklace. Whoever is wearing the Power Necklace, put them in guard and then use regular arts on whoever else will be joining the variable arts. Attack like normal with the third party member. Continue to try and do these moves throughout, with one person trying to heal the party every 2-3 turns (depending on the HP of course). Doing this strategy can make Latulgus a rather easy opponent.
