According to Velna, Zoan Stoara is the "real" Slogar, despite the name the game gives him. As to why the name is given as Zoan Stoara, it's probably due to the fact that it's supposed to be a real demon instead of the "imitation" and Zoan Stoara sounds more mysterious than Slogar. Complete guesses aside, this battle is when Maya finally unleashes her true power. Zoan Stoara apparently triggers Maya's power and Maya lets out in an attack called "Big Bang".
Just like Slogar, it's impossible to damage Zoan Stoara to begin with (including Origins). Instead, you have to deal with the special attacks unleashed, such as Gusto Blow, which damages all three members of the party with a nice sweep averaging around 450. Toxic Dark is an attack that attacks just one member of the party with about the same amount of damage, but has a chance of stunning the target along with stealing some MP. The last of the three special attacks is called Crackdown Buster, which attacks the entire party with a weak attack at an average of about 250. If anything, this should be the attack you hope for!
Once Maya has done "The Big Bang" attack, it's safe to start attacking Zoan Stoara with all that you've got. In the meantime, this is a good time to build up on all the arts for Maya using the Arts page on this site!
