The last time the downgraded form to this one was at the Gate of Shadows, assuming you guessed the code incorrectly. The Lava Face is the same basic enemy, except that it now has a special move called Fissure. It's the same move that's used with Golem (Boss) from when Noa was on Mt. Rikuroa (with a different name).
