Shortly after you just found the Amethyst, you will find the Garnet. Basically, around this point in the game, all the monsters you've known to fight are at their final upgraded forms. The Garnet actually has something new compared to the previous version, Amethyst. It uses a move called White Shield to increase its defense. In addition to this, it can also heal, just like a Vera.
