Hornets have a high resistance to damage. Their "block" is not really blocking, but more of a dodge. When trying to hit the hornet, it will fly straight up so you can't hit it. Usually, once you miss a hit you can expect to miss the rest of the hits for that character on that turn.
As many of the monsters do, the hornet does have a special attack. It is called poisonous sting and it will do just that - poison the character.
